Short Biography

Prof Matthew Kin Liang Chiu graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2008 and completed his higher medical, as well as speciality training in London (UK). He received MRCP accreditation from the Royal College of Physicians in 2011 and obtained his Royal College of Radiologist fellowship in Clinical Oncology in 2016.

Prof Chiu was awarded a competitive Cancer Research UK Clinical Fellowship to undertake translational research at the Institute of Cancer Research, London, and conferred a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) by the University of London in 2021. His PhD focused on the identification of novel immunotherapy-radiotherapy combination treatments in solid tumours and on analysing the associated changes to the tumour immune microenvironment. Dr Chiu has been a co-investigator of multiple early phase immunotherapy and radiotherapy clinical trials and has received ECCO-AACR-EORTC-ESMO certificate of accreditation for development of an early phase stereotactic radiotherapy-immunotherapy platform study in non-small cell lung cancer. He has published in peer-review journals and has presented in various local and international cancer conferences.

Prof Chiu joined the Department of Clinical Oncology at the University of Hong Kong as a Clinical Assistant Professor in September 2023.
